Leesburg Teen Arrested for Brandishing Pellet Rifle in Threatening Incident

LEESBURG, VA – A late-night disturbance in downtown Leesburg led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man who allegedly brandished a pellet rifle that resembled a real firearm while making threats.

The Leesburg Police Department responded to a call around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, in the unit block of Royal Street SE. Officers determined that Aidan S. Coffman, a Leesburg resident, had threatened someone he knew while holding the realistic-looking pellet gun. Police also say Coffman made threats via a public communication channel before the confrontation.

As a result of their investigation, Coffman has been charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Brandishing a Firearm (2 counts)
  • Assault (2 counts)
  • Threatening Over Public Airway (2 counts)

Coffman was arrested without incident and transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he remains pending a bond review.

Leesburg police are reminding residents that pellet guns and replica firearms can be easily mistaken for real weapons, creating potentially dangerous situations.
