Bicyclist Injured in Late-Night Leesburg Hit-and-Run, Police Seeking Driver

LEESBURG, VA — Leesburg Police are asking for the public’s help after a bicyclist was hit and injured by a driver who fled the scene late Friday night.

The crash happened around 10:27 p.m. on May 16 at the intersection of Industrial Court SE and Catoctin Circle SE—an area not far from some of Leesburg’s older neighborhoods and a growing commercial strip. Officers arrived to find an adult woman hurt in the road, her bike nearby.

She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that police say are not life-threatening. The vehicle that struck her didn’t stop. Witnesses described it as a newer-model gray compact SUV.

At this point, police are still working to identify the driver and track down the vehicle.

As someone who grew up here in Loudoun, I know how much we’ve relied on these roads over the years, whether for getting to work, to school, or just heading out for a bike ride on a spring evening. But with more development, more traffic, and faster speeds, that familiar sense of safety is starting to slip.

This part of town, especially near Catoctin Circle, has become a bit of a cut-through for drivers looking to avoid Route 15 traffic. That means more cars—and unfortunately, more chances for accidents like this.

Leesburg Police are asking anyone who might’ve seen anything—maybe a gray SUV speeding through or a car with recent front-end damage—to come forward. Even a small detail might help.
