New Leesburg Clinic Takes Root-Cause Approach to Health

In a county where urgent care centers and specialists seem to pop up with every new shopping center, Leesburg just welcomed a different kind of health provider. The Wellness Way officially opened its doors this week at 540 Fort Evans Road NE, offering a more personal—and some would say old-fashioned—approach to health: one that starts with listening.

At Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, Drs. Sean Van Newkirk and Destiny Decker spoke not about new equipment or big medical partnerships, but about people—and what it means to truly get to the root of their health issues.

“I grew up as a sick child, a sick family, and I felt like it was my responsibility to help create healthy ones,” said Van Newkirk. “It’s more about how many lives we can impact… I don’t count my success by the crops that I harvest but by the seeds that I sow.”

That kind of perspective might be just what Loudoun needs right now. As development continues to change the landscape—sometimes at the cost of community-centered spaces—businesses like The Wellness Way seem to be tapping into something deeper: a desire to slow down and get personal again.

Unlike many traditional medical offices, The Wellness Way focuses on what it calls a “root-cause” approach to health, which includes chiropractic care but goes beyond it—looking at diet, stress, inflammation, and other lifestyle factors. It’s part of a growing movement across the country, and now it’s made a home in Leesburg.

Van Newkirk and Decker relocated to Virginia from the South to open this clinic, with a mission to build not just a practice, but a community around health.

That goal lines up with what many residents here say they’re craving: more connection, less prescription. More prevention, less patchwork.

You can find the clinic in Suite 302 at 540 Fort Evans Road NE, just down the road from the Leesburg Premium Outlets.
