Late Thursday night, a woman was struck and killed while crossing near the intersection of the Leesburg Bypass and Edwards Ferry Road NE—a busy stretch that’s seen its fair share of close calls.
A Leesburg Police officer on patrol arrived at the scene around 11:35 p.m. and called for help immediately. Despite efforts at the scene, the woman died before she could be taken to the hospital. Her name hasn’t been released yet, as her family is still being notified.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. Leesburg’s Crash Reconstruction Team is now digging into what led to the collision.
