Loudoun County’s getting ready to light up the skies—and the calendar—with a full slate of free events celebrating Independence Day. Whether you’re in Sterling, Aldie, Lovettsville, or Purcellville, there’s a hometown celebration waiting for you.
Here’s your guide to what’s happening and where:
Friday, June 27 — Star-Spangled Sterling
Sterling Community Center kicks off the week with its annual Star-Spangled Sterling celebration at Sterling Middle School. From 6 to 10 p.m., families can enjoy outdoor games, food trucks, and a live DJ. Fireworks light up at 9:30 p.m. Bring your own lawn chairs—none will be provided. Sterling Middle is at 201 W. Holly Ave.
Saturday, June 28 — What a Blast! at Hanson Park
In Aldie, Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park teams up with Brambleton Community Association for What a Blast!. Expect music, games, food and drinks from 5 to 10 p.m. Fireworks start around 9:15 p.m. (Rain date: June 29.) The celebration’s at Championship Plaza, 23345 Hanson Park Drive.
Friday, July 4 — Red, White, and Run 5K
Back at Hanson Park on the 4th, things kick off bright and early with the annual Red, White, and Run 5K at 8 a.m. It’s a great way to start the day if you’re looking to run (or stroll) in some patriotic spirit.
Thursday, July 3 — Lovettsville Parade and Pool Bash
Lovettsville keeps it classic with a hometown parade starting at 5:30 p.m. from Lovettsville Community Park to the elementary school. After that, it’s time for the Pool Bash at 6:30 p.m. ($5 admission) and festivities at the park—carnival games, DJ, food, face painting—capped off with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. (Rain date: July 6.)
Friday, July 4 — Claude Moore Park Fourth Fest
From 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Claude Moore Park in Sterling brings the community together with live music, crafts, history tours, nature exhibits, and food trucks. Use the Loudoun Park Lane entrance and park at the Visitor Center or Heritage Farm Museum.
Friday, July 4 — Franklin Park’s Big Bash
Purcellville wraps up the day with Independence Day at Franklin Park. Starting at 5 p.m., the event features inflatables, face painting, balloon twisting, and live music from DJ Bifocals and Loudoun Jazz Ensemble. Fireworks go off at 9:30 p.m., with Loudoun Symphonic Winds performing live. (Rain date: July 5.)
The Franklin Park Pool will also be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (standard fees apply). Franklin Park is at 17501 Franklin Park Dr.
