Leesburg, VA — Leesburg Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place just after dark Monday evening at the Tobacco Hut on East Market Street, a busy corridor just outside of historic downtown.
According to police, a man entered the store around 6 p.m. on January 19th, pulled out a gun, and demanded merchandise before taking off on foot. No injuries were reported, but the encounter has rattled nearby businesses.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 5’10”, weighing around 150 pounds. He was wearing a Ravens football sweatshirt, dark pants, red face covering, and Nike sneakers with a blue toe cap.
Leesburg PD is urging folks who were in the area that evening—especially along E Market near Plaza Street—to think back and report anything unusual. They’re also asking nearby businesses to check their surveillance footage for anyone matching that description.
