It’s been nearly two months since a brazen theft at a Leesburg shopping center just days before Christmas. Now, police say they’ve made an arrest.

The Leesburg Police Department announced this week that a suspect has been charged in connection with a December 23, 2025 larceny at the AT&T Store on Village Market Boulevard.

According to police, around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon, a man walked into the store at 1604 Village Market Boulevard and used a tool to cut security cables attached to merchandise. He then ran out of the store with the stolen items.

Detectives say their investigation led them to identify the suspect as 34-year-old Melsun S. Perry of Hyattsville, Maryland. A warrant for grand larceny was obtained on January 13.

On February 10, Perry was arrested by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and taken to the Calvert County Adult Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond on the Leesburg charge, along with charges from other jurisdictions.

Leesburg police credited their law enforcement partners in Maryland for helping bring the case to a close.

For many in Leesburg, Village Market Boulevard is a regular stop for errands and holiday shopping. Incidents like this are a reminder that even in our tight-knit community, retail theft remains a challenge — especially during the busy holiday season.
