Leesburg Plans Five Outdoor Pickleball Courts, Community Meeting Scheduled

Leesburg residents will get a closer look next week at the town’s planned pickleball courts near Freedom Park.

Town officials are inviting the public to a preconstruction community meeting on Tuesday, April 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, 60 Ida Lee Drive NW. The meeting will be held in the lower-level banquet hall.

The project site is next to Freedom Park in southeast Leesburg. Plans call for five outdoor pickleball courts built on asphalt pads, along with perimeter fencing and lighting. Construction is expected to wrap up by fall 2026.

For nearby residents and park users, the April 7 meeting will be the first chance to hear directly from the project team before work begins. Town staff say the session is meant to give people a chance to review the plans, ask questions, and learn what to expect during construction.

The town is also planning a groundbreaking ceremony at the site on Wednesday, April 8, at 10 a.m.

Pickleball has grown quickly across Loudoun in recent years, and Leesburg’s latest project shows the town is trying to keep up with demand for more dedicated court space. At the same time, projects like this often draw interest from neighbors who want to know more about lighting, traffic, noise, and how the new courts will fit into the surrounding park area.

More information, including a sign-up for project updates, is available through the town’s pickleball project page.
