Leesburg Police Investigating After Guitar Thrown Through Patrol Car Windshield

LEESBURG, Va. — Leesburg Police are investigating after a guitar was thrown through the windshield of a patrol vehicle early Friday morning while an officer was responding to a call in downtown Leesburg.

According to the Leesburg Police Department, the incident happened at about 2:51 a.m. as an officer drove through the downtown area. Investigators say a guitar was thrown from the vicinity of the 0 block of South King Street, striking the moving patrol vehicle and crashing through the windshield.

The officer was not injured.

Police said the incident created a serious risk to both the officer and the public. A large object striking a moving vehicle could have caused the officer to lose control, potentially endangering other drivers, pedestrians, and people in the downtown area.

Detectives are working to identify the person or people responsible. The investigation remains active.
