LEESBURG, Va. — A Leesburg man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian earlier this year on Battlefield Parkway SE, following a months-long investigation by the Leesburg Police Department.

Police announced that Alexei G. Fisher, 26, of Leesburg, was arrested on June 12 and charged in connection with the February 8 crash near the intersection of Battlefield Parkway SE and Sycolin Road SE.

Fisher faces the following charges:

  • Felony hit and run
  • Move Over Law violation
  • Failure to report an accident
  • Failure to yield to a pedestrian
  • Failure to pay full time and attention

After his arrest, Fisher was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and later released on a $5,000 bond.

According to police, investigators spent several months locating and processing the suspected vehicle, reviewing evidence, and following up on numerous tips from the public.

The department credited community members for helping move the investigation forward after surveillance video believed to show the suspect vehicle was released. Police also thanked the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the investigation.

Crash Happened After Driver Stopped for Smoke

The incident occurred at about 10:55 p.m. on February 8.

Investigators said the victim had stopped his vehicle in the middle lane of Battlefield Parkway SE near Sycolin Road SE after noticing smoke coming from it. After getting out to check the vehicle, he was struck by a passing car.

The driver continued southbound on Battlefield Parkway without stopping to render aid or report the crash.

At the time, investigators believed the vehicle involved may have been a gray Tesla and asked the public for help identifying the driver. Police also released surveillance video and sought information from other motorists who were in the area that night.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.

Police said information provided by residents after the video was made public played an important role in identifying the suspect and ultimately making the arrest.
