LEESBURG, VA — A 19-year-old from Warrenton has been charged in connection with a violent assault that left a man unconscious in a Leesburg parking lot in May.
Mason A. Hodges was arrested July 1 by the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and is being held at their detention center while awaiting transport to Loudoun County. He’s facing a felony charge of Aggravated Malicious Wounding. A bond hearing is set for July 7.
The incident happened just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, in the 500 block of East Market Street—an area that’s been increasingly busy on weekend nights. Leesburg Police say they responded to a report of a large fight in a parking lot and found a man unconscious, suffering from serious head and facial injuries. The victim was treated at a hospital and has since been released.
Another person involved in the altercation was identified, but after reviewing the evidence, police say that individual will not be charged.
This kind of violence is rare for downtown Leesburg, but the incident has raised fresh concerns among residents about late-night safety.
Leesburg Police are still asking for help from the public. If you have any information, you’re encouraged to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 703-771-4500.
