A 23-year-old Ashburn man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened earlier this month in one of Leesburg’s busiest corridors.
D’Angelo E. Bland was taken into custody on Monday, October 20, and is facing a series of serious charges after police say he discharged a firearm during a fight near the 700 block of East Market Street on the evening of October 1.
Bland is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The charges include:
-
Attempted Malicious Wounding
-
Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
-
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
-
Brandishing a Firearm
-
Discharging a Firearm in Public
-
Discharging a Firearm Across a Roadway
No one was shot during the altercation, which happened just before 9 p.m., but the incident rattled residents and businesses near the busy stretch of East Market. Police responded quickly and confirmed that shots had been fired during a fight, though no injuries were reported.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation that led to Bland’s arrest.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Leesburg Police Department at 703-771-4500.
This incident is a reminder of how rapidly situations can escalate — even in areas of town that many still consider quiet. East Market has long been a corridor of concern due to traffic, density, and a growing number of late-night disturbances.
