In a recent development that underscores the ongoing concerns around package thefts in Loudoun County, a woman from Ashburn has been taken into custody facing multiple charges related to the theft of packages from local residences. Brandi Lowry, 44, stands accused of five instances of petit larceny in a case that highlights the vigilance of the Leesburg Police Department and the cooperation of the community in addressing such crimes.
The investigation was sparked on the morning of November 17, 2023, when the Leesburg Police were alerted to a package theft from a porch in the 500 block of Nivens Court SW. The suspect, described as a white female with blonde hair, was reportedly seen pilfering a recently delivered package and was believed to be trailing a delivery truck in a white sedan. This initial report led to further calls from neighbors reporting similar suspicious activities in the vicinity.
Swift action by law enforcement led to the location and stop of the suspect vehicle on Coubertin Drive SE, where Lowry was identified as the driver. A search of her vehicle uncovered multiple stolen packages and clothing items, confirming her involvement in at least two incidents of porch package theft. Following her arrest and the subsequent investigation, Lowry was charged with two counts of petit larceny and later released on an unsecured bond from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
Further inquiries by the Leesburg Police culminated in the identification of three more package thefts attributable to Lowry. Additional warrants were issued, and Lowry was apprehended once more at the Loudoun County Courthouse, leading to her arrest on the outstanding charges.
This case serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by package thefts in our community and the importance of vigilance among residents and coordination with local law enforcement to deter such crimes. It also illustrates the effectiveness of community and police collaboration in bringing perpetrators to justice.
