Leesburg, VA – A man wanted for a string of crimes in Leesburg, including grand larceny and assault on a police officer, is now in custody after being extradited from Connecticut this week.
Shawn C. Adito Adams, 34, of Brooklyn, New York, was brought back to Loudoun County on January 14, 2025, after serving time in Connecticut on unrelated charges. Adams is accused of two separate theft incidents at the LIDS store located at 241 Fort Evans Road NE in Leesburg, which occurred on April 2 and May 5, 2024.
During the second incident, Adams fled the scene and struck a Leesburg police officer with his vehicle. Thankfully, the officer only sustained minor injuries, but the crime escalated the charges against Adams.
Adams now faces a long list of charges, including:
- Grand larceny
- Larceny with intent to sell
- Possession of burglarious tools
- Fleeing and eluding
- Assault on a law enforcement officer
- Resisting arrest
- Reckless driving
After being transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, Adams is held without bond.
