Leesburg, VA (November 1, 2023) – The votes are in! Students from Cool Spring Elementary School have won the Town of Leesburg’s 2023 “Paint the Plow” art contest. This year’s theme was “Around the Town”.
Their plow, “A Place for All Downtown”, received 1,139 votes. It depicts different locations that can be found around Leesburg including the Rust Library, Leesburg Police Department, and Mom’s Apple Pie.
“Town Houses”, painted by students at Catoctin Elementary School came in second place with 482 votes. Leesburg Elementary School’s, “Go Leesburg Eagles” design came in third with 476 votes. All three schools will receive a monetary award for their participation.
The “Paint the Plow” art project is sponsored by the Leesburg Commission on Public Art (COPA) and the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts (FOLPA). The winners were selected by the public using an online survey.
All three snowplows will be featured in the Town’s upcoming Christmas and Holiday parade in December and while plowing Town streets during snow events.
