If you’ve been walking through downtown Leesburg lately, you might have noticed a new spot lighting up the corner of South King and Loudoun streets. Ebisu Sushi and Thai officially celebrated its grand opening on Monday, July 21, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The restaurant takes over the former Delirium Café space, but instead of Belgian beers, you’ll now find fresh sushi and bold, authentic Thai dishes.
Owner John Puglise says quality is everything for him and his family. “We get the sushi from the best sources possible. It’s the freshest fish and highest quality and the Thai is special because it’s authentic,” Puglise said. His wife, Maggie (Naiyana), and her sister, Jamie (Matta), are bringing flavors straight from their home country of Thailand. “There are a lot of different styles compared to what you would see in other restaurants that could have been Americanized.”
The restaurant has a warm, intimate feel—two small dining rooms, a cozy bar, and a sushi counter where you can watch the chefs at work.
Since quietly opening in January, Puglise says the family has felt right at home in Leesburg. “Everyone has been receptive,” he said. “We’re happy to call Leesburg home.”
