LEESBURG, VA — Downtown Leesburg has a new place for lemonade, and the owners are betting the drink can draw customers long after summer is over.
Pikes Peak Lemonade Company celebrated its grand opening Saturday, Sept. 12, with a ribbon cutting at its new shop at 106 South Street SE, Suite 100.
The family-owned franchise makes fresh lemonade in a variety of flavors and also sells take-home lemonade concentrates and other drink mixes. The menu goes beyond traditional lemonade, with homemade root beer, Italian sodas and what the company calls “dirty lemonades” made with syrups, cold foam creams and toppings.
Owner April Cooke said the drinks are made with real ingredients and organic cane sugar, without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
The Leesburg shop is also working to make lemonade less of a seasonal treat. Fall flavors debuted over the grand-opening weekend, and Cooke plans to add a hot cocoa bar this winter.
That year-round approach could be important for a downtown business that will have to attract customers during Leesburg’s colder months as well as its busy spring and summer seasons.
“We’re looking forward to continuing to introduce new flavors and experiences while becoming a place that people in the community can return to throughout the year,” Cooke said. “We have been amazed by the tremendous support we’ve received from the community. From the very beginning, people of all ages have embraced what we’re doing, and it has been incredibly rewarding to see families, friends and neighbors making us part of their time in downtown Leesburg.”
The opening adds another family-oriented stop to Leesburg’s downtown business district, where locally operated shops and restaurants remain an important part of the town’s identity even as the surrounding Loudoun County community continues to grow.
