Leesburg Airshow Takes Off on September 28 with Thrilling Aerobatics and Displays

The Leesburg Airshow is set to return on Saturday, September 28 at the Leesburg Executive Airport, and it promises to be a high-flying event for all ages. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the skies over Leesburg will be filled with thrilling aerobatic performances and historical aircraft displays.

The show kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with radio-controlled planes and jets, and the excitement continues at 1 p.m. when professional aerobatic pilots take to the sky. The lineup includes the Flying Circus, Scott Francis Airshows, RJ Gritter, Chef Pitts, Bob Schmidle, Mark Meredith, and Warbird Thunder Airshows—each known for their daring aerial maneuvers.

On the ground, visitors can explore the static display area, featuring modern and vintage aircraft. Highlights include The Spirit of Freedom, a C-54 Skymaster famous for its role in the Berlin Airlift, and a restored UH-1 Huey helicopter from the Liberty Warbirds. For the first time, the event will also showcase a US Navy F-18 Super Hornet, the fighter jet seen in Top Gun: Maverick.

In addition to the aerial performances, families can enjoy aviation-themed exhibits, educational activities, and even inflatable slides for kids. Food and beverage vendors, including craft beer options, will be available throughout the day.

Admission is free, but parking is off-site at Heritage High School and Segra Field, with shuttles running regularly from 10:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wheelchair-accessible parking and shuttles are available at both locations. No on-site parking will be allowed at the airport itself.
