Leesburg Police quickly apprehended a 23-year-old man following an armed robbery at the Tobacco King and Vape shop and a theft from a nearby 7-Eleven on November 29. The suspect, Zion Asiama, is now facing serious charges, including armed robbery and larceny.
The incident unfolded just after 1:20 p.m. when employees at Tobacco King on Fieldstone Drive NE reported a man brandishing a knife and threatening that he had a firearm. He left the store on foot with stolen goods.
Officers swiftly set up a perimeter and located Asiama near the 7-Eleven, just steps away from the tobacco shop. Police arrested him on the spot and recovered the stolen items.
Asiama, a Leesburg resident, is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during either incident.
The Leesburg Police Department commended the quick response of its officers, highlighting their effective teamwork in resolving the situation without harm to the public.
