Leesburg Man Charged After Saturday Night Gunfire

Gerald McMurrayLeesburg, VA – The Leesburg Police Department has charged a local man following an incident of gunfire that occurred on Saturday evening.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on June 22, officers responded to the 0-99 block of Plaza Street NE after receiving a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate any suspect at that time. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported.

Following an investigation, the Leesburg Police Department obtained warrants against Gerald McMurray, 37, of Leesburg, VA. McMurray faces charges including attempted malicious wounding (2 counts), discharging a firearm at a building, brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a public place, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On the evening of June 25, officers with the Arlington County Police Department arrested Gerald McMurray on the Leesburg warrants. McMurray is currently held at the Arlington County Jail without bond.
