Leesburg Man Charged with Felony Burglary, Intent to Commit Murder at Public Defender’s Office

Leesburg, VA (August 13, 2024) – A Leesburg man has been arrested and charged with serious felonies following a disturbance at the Loudoun County Public Defender’s Office on Monday afternoon. Riley Biro, 22, who has no fixed address, is facing one count of felony burglary with intent to commit murder and one count of felony destruction of property.

The Leesburg Police Department reported that around 1:10 p.m. on August 12, Biro forcibly entered the secured main office door of the Loudoun County Public Defender’s Office, located at 201 Loudoun Street SE. Biro was allegedly searching for a specific employee and made verbal threats indicating his intent to harm the individual. Fortunately, the employee was not present, and Biro left the premises before officers could respond.

Following the incident at the Public Defender’s Office, Biro made his way to the Loudoun County District Courthouse at 2 Church Street NE. He was promptly detained by deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office until Leesburg Police officers arrived to take him into custody.

Biro was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond. The case is still under investigation as authorities work to gather more details surrounding the incident.
