Leesburg, VA – The Leesburg Police Department has charged Daniel Basurto Vargas, 35, of Leesburg, with driving while intoxicated (second offense), driving after revocation of license, reckless driving by speed, refusal of tests, obstruction of justice, and having an open container following a traffic stop Tuesday night.
On July 30, 2024, shortly before 11:00 pm, a Leesburg Police Officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound on East Market Street (Route 7) near Battlefield Parkway driving 100 mph in a 55-mph zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and determined that the driver, Daniel Basurto Vargas, was impaired. Basurto Vargas additionally had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and refused all sobriety tests.
Basurto Vargas was arrested and transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he remains held pending a bond hearing.
