A Leesburg man is facing charges in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that took the life of a 93-year-old Lovettsville woman last fall.
Angad S. Sivia, 33, was indicted this week by a Loudoun County Grand Jury after a months-long investigation by the Leesburg Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team. The charges stem from an October 23, 2024 crash at the busy intersection of Fort Evans Road NE and the Leesburg Bypass.
According to police, a semi-truck with a trailer ran a red light and slammed into a Chrysler 300 carrying three people. The driver of the truck didn’t stop. It was later found abandoned less than two miles away, off Edwards Ferry Road NE.
All three people in the Chrysler were taken to the hospital. Monica Lee, a 93-year-old passenger from Lovettsville, died from her injuries three days later. The other two—her family members—were eventually released from the hospital.
Leesburg Police say their team worked “tirelessly” to identify the driver and eventually linked the truck to Sivia. He was indicted on April 15 for felony hit-and-run involving injury or death, under Virginia Code § 46.2-894.
Sivia was arrested the next day at the Loudoun County Courthouse and released on an unsecured $1,000 bond.
Police spokesperson Thea Pirnat didn’t mince words.
“The individual responsible displayed an utter disregard for the Lee family, fleeing the scene without a second thought,” she said. “This reckless behavior not only cost the life of Monica Lee but also showed a complete lack of compassion. We are committed to the family, to ensure that justice will be served, and to hold the person responsible accountable for his actions.”
