LEESBURG, Va. — Three people are being held without bond after Leesburg police say an investigation into suspicious purchases at a local Best Buy uncovered stolen credit cards and thousands of dollars in merchandise.

The investigation began around 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, when officers were called to the Best Buy at 609 Potomac Station Drive NE. Employees reported that three people were purchasing merchandise with multiple credit cards bearing different names, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

While officers were still at the store investigating, police received a call from a resident who reported that their credit card had just been fraudulently used at the same Best Buy.

Police said officers determined that transaction was connected to the investigation already underway.

Officers then searched a vehicle associated with the three suspects. Police said they found several stolen credit cards along with thousands of dollars in merchandise believed to have been purchased fraudulently.

Police arrested Leonard Roman, 25, of New York; Walinton Castillo Rosario, 22, of New York; and Jeury Bol Villavicencio, 21, of Pennsylvania.

Each faces charges of credit card fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud and credit card theft. The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

All three were taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and were being held without bond, according to police.

The case remains under investigation.

Leesburg police also credited Best Buy employees with recognizing the suspicious activity and bringing it to officers’ attention.
