Leesburg Police Charge Woman After Sword Incident

A Leesburg woman is facing charges after an incident involving a sword with a police officer and a local resident. The Leesburg Police Department reported that on February 8, 2024, officers were in the process of serving a warrant on the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road, NE, when they encountered the individual. During the interaction, the person swung a sword at an officer and subsequently at a civilian, though no one was injured.

The individual involved, Alexandra C. Hopkins, 57, from Leesburg, was arrested following the incident. Hopkins is now facing charges including one count of Assault on Law Enforcement, one count of Assault, and two counts of Brandishing a Weapon, alongside two additional warrants from another jurisdiction. Following her arrest, Hopkins was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she is currently held without bond.
