Leesburg Police Looking for Witnesses After Brutal Assault in Plaza Parking Lot

Early Saturday morning, a man was found unconscious with serious head and facial injuries in the parking lot of Leesburg Plaza off East Market Street. Police are now asking the community to step forward with any information that might help identify the attackers.

Around 2:18 a.m. on May 17, Leesburg Police responded to reports of a large fight behind 538 East Market Street. That’s the shopping center just east of downtown, home to several late-night spots. When officers arrived, they found an adult man lying on the pavement, badly beaten.

Witnesses told police that multiple people were involved in the assault. Two suspects were described: one heavyset White man in a green shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes, and another White man wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts.

Police, with help from Loudoun County deputies and Virginia State Police, searched the surrounding area, but the suspects got away. The victim was rushed to the hospital. As of now, there’s no public update on his condition.

Investigators believe several people were there when the assault happened—and they need those people to come forward.

If you were in Leesburg Plaza around 2 a.m. Saturday or know anything about what happened, you’re urged to call the Leesburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 703-771-4500. Tips can be given anonymously.

This is a well-trafficked area, even in the early hours, and there are likely folks who saw something. If that’s you, don’t wait. Speak up.
