Leesburg Police Make Arrest in Stabbing on Crestwood Street 

Joel Escobar-BarrientosJoel Escobar-Barrientos, 29, of Leesburg, has been charged with one count of malicious wounding.

The charge stems from a stabbing that occurred on Saturday, June 24, 2023, shortly before 4:00 AM. The Leesburg Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 500 block of Crestwood Street SW. Leesburg Police Officers immediately responded and located a male victim in his twenties suffering from lacerations to his upper body. The suspect, identified as Joel Escobar-Barrientos, who is related to the victim, had fled the residence prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Following an altercation with the victim, Escobar-Barrientos stabbed the victim in his upper body with a knife. The victim was transported by Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System to a local hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident at a residence in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE around 5:00 AM that morning.

Escobar-Barrientos is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
