A Leesburg woman is facing charges after police say she fired a gun during a fight in a parking lot just off Edwards Ferry Road this past Saturday morning.
According to the Leesburg Police Department, officers were called around 10 a.m. on November 1 to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE. When they got there, they found that a group of people had been in a physical altercation and that a firearm had been discharged during the scuffle.
No one was hurt, but the situation could have had a very different outcome.
Police arrested 34-year-old Allison M. Morgan, a Leesburg resident, and charged her with Reckless Handling of a Firearm. She was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center following the incident.
The police are still looking into what led up to the fight and gunfire. They’re asking anyone who saw what happened or who has any information to reach out—either by phone at 703-771-4500 or directly to the Criminal Investigations Section at 703-771-6417 or via email at policeinvestigations@leesburgva.gov.
This incident took place in a busy area, near shopping and residential buildings, and neighbors say it’s a reminder that violence can break out even in places where people feel safe.
