The annual Dog Swim at the AV Symington Aquatic Center in Leesburg is back on Saturday, September 6, giving local pups one last splash before the pools close for the season.
There are two swim sessions this year—9:00 to 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—and space fills up quickly, so early registration is a must. The cost is $5 per person, with a limit of two dogs per handler. All handlers must be at least 16, and no one under age 12 will be allowed in.
This event is a chance for dogs to swim freely and safely off-leash in a fully gated space. A veterinarian will be on-site just in case, and everyone’s asked to bring a dish if your dog needs water during the swim.
The rules are straightforward: dogs must be at least six months old, vaccinated, and wearing a visible dog license. No walk-ups will be allowed, so you’ll need to register online via WebTrac or stop by the front desk at Ida Lee Recreation Center.
It’s a light-hearted way to close out summer in Leesburg—especially for the dogs who’ve been eyeing the pool all season.
