A Bedford man is facing serious charges after police say he secretly filmed women inside a Leesburg Target — and may have done the same in stores across multiple counties.

Leesburg Police have charged 36-year-old Tate E. Dietrich with four counts of unlawful filming after an incident on June 28 at the Target on Edwards Ferry Road. Officers say he recorded someone without their knowledge or consent and left the store before police could catch up with him.

It didn’t stop there.

Leesburg detectives say they found three more victims and linked Dietrich to similar incidents in stores around Roanoke County, Bedford, and Leesburg. A coordinated effort between Leesburg, Bedford, and Roanoke County police — along with Virginia State Police — led to a search of Dietrich’s Bedford home on August 11. He was arrested the same day by Bedford Police.

Now being held at Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg, Dietrich faces additional charges from multiple jurisdictions. The investigation is still ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone who may have information to come forward.
