Parade, Concert and Fireworks Return to Leesburg for 4th of July Celebration

LEESBURG, Va.— Leesburg will mark its 35th annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4, with a downtown parade in the morning and music, food and fireworks at Ida Lee Park in the evening.

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Ida Lee Park, then heads down King Street through downtown Leesburg before ending at Fairfax Street. Town officials expect as many as 100 entries. The parade will also include the Patriots Cup Competition, sponsored by Loudoun Now, honoring the day’s top float.

Drivers should plan ahead. King Street will close to through traffic at 9:15 a.m. and downtown streets are expected to reopen around 12:30 p.m.

At Ida Lee Park, gates open at 6 p.m. Go Go Gadjet takes the stage at 6:30 p.m. About 20 food vendors will be on site, serving barbecue, burgers, shrimp po’ boys, ice cream, funnel cakes and more.

Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. and will be choreographed to music.

Coolers and large bags are allowed but will be checked at the gates. Pets, alcohol, glass containers and personal fireworks, including sparklers, are not allowed.

The A.V. Symington Aquatic Center will be closed all day. Ida Lee Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to noon.

In case of rain, only the fireworks will be rescheduled, moving to Sunday, July 5, at 9:30 p.m. The town said the fireworks time may also be adjusted if severe weather is approaching.

Parking will be available at Ida Lee Park, the Town of Leesburg parking garage, the Loudoun County parking garage and the Pennington Lot. Visitors should expect heavy traffic before and after the fireworks and use marked crosswalks.
