Roll the Dice: Board Game Night Returns to Thomas Balch Library

There’s something refreshing about putting the phones away and gathering around a table for a board game.

On Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m., the Thomas Balch Library in downtown Leesburg is inviting the community to do just that. The library will host a free Board Game Night in its lower-level meeting room, open to all ages.

“Onward to Adventure”

This month’s theme is “Onward to Adventure,” with games centered on quests, exploration, and bold journeys. Think discovery, strategy, and maybe a little friendly competition.

But this isn’t just about rolling dice and moving pieces across a board. Library staff will also tie the theme to local history, sharing stories that reflect Loudoun’s own adventurous past. It’s a creative way to connect modern fun with the county’s deeper roots.

All games will be provided by the library, so there’s no need to bring anything but a willingness to play. Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or someone who hasn’t picked up a board game in years, you’ll find a seat at the table.

A Night for the Whole Community

The event is free and designed for all ages and skill levels. Families, teens, longtime residents, and newcomers are all welcome. It’s the kind of low-key evening that reminds you how important shared spaces like this are—especially in a town that’s grown as quickly as Leesburg.

The library is located at 208 West Market Street, right in the heart of downtown. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to step inside and see what’s happening there beyond the bookshelves, this might be it.

In a county that often feels busy and fast-paced, a simple game night offers something different: a chance to slow down, sit across from your neighbors, and enjoy a little adventure together.
