Snow Emergency Routes in Effect as Leesburg Braces for Weekend Storm

With snow in the weekend forecast, Leesburg officials have declared a Snow Emergency starting Saturday, January 24 at 6 p.m. That means if you’re parked along one of the town’s designated snow emergency routes, you’ll need to move your car—or it could be towed.

The town’s preparing for what could be a significant snow or ice event. According to Leesburg’s Emergency Operations Plan, the Town Manager (or someone he designates) makes the call when weather conditions suggest a serious winter storm is coming.

Where you can’t park during the Snow Emergency:

  • King Street – from Oakcrest Manor to Country Club Drive

  • Loudoun Street – from Liberty Street to Harrison Street

  • Market Street – from Fairview Street to the Route 7/15 Bypass

You can find a full map of the snow emergency routes on the town’s website.

Once plows are out and snow removal begins, any vehicles left on these streets will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Town officials are also asking residents to help by clearing all public roadways and sidewalks—not just the emergency routes. That includes removing things like trash cans, trailers, and even basketball hoops from the curb. Every little bit helps the plows do their job safely and efficiently.
