If you’ve lived in Leesburg for any length of time, you know that spring doesn’t really start with the calendar — it starts with Spring Bling.
On Saturday, March 7, the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center will host its 29th annual Spring Bling, A Hometown Fine Arts & Crafts Show. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and as always, admission and parking are free.
This isn’t some pop-up market trucked in from out of town. More than 70 local and regional artisans will fill the main hallway, basketball courts, and aerobics room with handcrafted goods — the kind of items you won’t find on a big-box store shelf.
Expect to see original artwork and home décor, handmade jewelry, wood crafts, pottery, bath and body products, and even gourmet foods. It’s the kind of place where you can pick up a thoughtful Easter basket addition, a Mother’s Day gift that didn’t come from a last-minute online order, or something meaningful for a graduating senior or favorite teacher.
For nearly three decades, Spring Bling has quietly become a community tradition. Families wander through together. Neighbors run into each other between vendor booths. Kids tug parents toward colorful displays. It’s local commerce at its most personal — you meet the person who made what you’re buying.
As Leesburg continues to grow and change, events like this still give the town a small-community feel, even if just for a Saturday.
