Sterling Man Arrested in Leesburg for Firearms Violations After Late-Night Incident

A Sterling man was arrested on multiple firearms-related charges in Leesburg following an incident on Edwards Ferry Road late last week. Leesburg Police say the arrest took place on October 11 at around 11:42 p.m., when an officer on routine patrol encountered a group drinking in a parking lot.

The group scattered when the officer approached, but one man stopped, and the officer noticed a concealed firearm in his waistband. The man, identified as 59-year-old Carl Frye, was detained, and the firearm was secured. Further investigation revealed that Frye was intoxicated and had prior felony convictions.

Frye now faces several charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, altering a firearm’s serial number, and being drunk in public. He is currently being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

The incident is part of Leesburg Police’s proactive enforcement strategy, which aims to address crime trends and enhance community safety.
