Leesburg, VA – Dabryn Norris, 22, of Brambleton, and Taylor Ward, 21, of Leesburg, were taken into custody on August 5, 2023, and August 7, 2023, respectively.
Norris has been charged with stealing an animal, breaking & entering, conspiracy to steal an animal, and conspiracy to commit breaking & entering. Ward has been charged with conspiracy to steal an animal and conspiracy to commit breaking & entering. All charges are felonies.
The charges stem from a residential burglary that occurred on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, around 8:30 AM in northeast Leesburg. The victim reported that a subject forced entry into their residence while they were not home and stole their dog, Gelato. No other items were taken during the burglary, including another dog that was also in the residence at the time. Norris and Ward were identified as suspects through an investigation by the Leesburg Police Department Criminal Investigation Section. It was determined that Ward previously owned the dog, however, she had voluntarily surrendered custody of the animal last year.
Gelato was turned over to authorities on Friday, July 28, 2023, in good condition.
We would like to thank the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in bringing Gelato home safely.
Norris was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond. Ward was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
